We find it hard to believe that it’s been a year since we posted this blog with Nathan’s birth photos but … it has been so now we get to post his 1st birthday images.
You may recall that Shannon, Dan and Nathan moved recently from a very small house (in Huntington Beach) to a very large house in Newport Beach. That extra space was very helpful for this birthday bash. Shannon set up the backyard for both adults and kids – there were plenty of both.
The refreshments sign was the handiwork of one of Shannon’s math students at Fountain Valley High School. The play pens were very popular with Nathan’s friends as well as the moms. That’s Shannon in the middle of the pen.
The entire party had a sports theme – one could say that Dan (i.e. Dad) is a sports fanatic. It appears from the photos below that Nathan has inherited his Dad’s trait.
One of Dan’s close friends (a NY Yankee fan in Orange County!!) was in tune with the sports theme and played a bit of football with his son.
Dan took charge of the BBQ while others caught up and enjoyed the refreshments.
There was plenty of punch and a football shaped birthday cake.
Of course the bubble machine was a big hit with the kids as everyone took advantage of the fantastic weather …. just another day in paradise.
Nathan didn’t make it thru the entire event. After the cake he took a well deserved nap. While he was sleeping I took his birthday present out of the car. To say it was popular with everyone, young and old, would be an understatement.
You have to love the sun shade. Another great feature – it’s designed to accommodate growth of the child. In its final (of three) configuration it morphs from a multi-purpose stroller into a tricycle.
Everyone had a great time – we heard the next day that Nathan really loved playing in his new stroller/tricycle. And it won’t be long before we celebrate Jeremiah’s first birthday. They’re both terrific grand kids and we look forward to sharing many more birthday celebrations with them.
